Wrestling News for June 23, 2003
- Kurt Angle continues to have the reputation of being one of the most well-liked wrestlers in the company. Finding someone to say something bad about him would be very tough. He is also said to be very patient and accommodating to the fans outside of the arena.
- WWE is exempt from the New York State Athletic Commission drug testing rules that are being enforced on indy promotions that run shows in the state more than six times per year. The reason being that WWE is already considered to be following these rules since the company is already known for its in-house testing of wrestlers and sending them to a rehabilitation center or releasing them for multiple failures.
- Nathan Jones was backstage at the recent house show in Orlando visiting friends. There is still no word on when the company plans to use him on television again.
- A very reliable source is reporting that Vince McMahon has expressed some interest in purchasing the UFC mixed-martial-arts promotion in the past. McMahon was said to be interested in purchasing the comnpany from previous owner Bob Meyrowitz, who eventually sold it to Zuffa Entertainment. McMahon's advisors talked him into not buying the company, since they felt that by attaching his name to it would kill any chance of being accepted as a legitimate sport by the mainstream media. McMahon is reportedly still interested in purchasing the promotion, but it holding out until the company has established more credibility.
- For those wondering why Shawn Michaels wasn't at RAW this past Monday, it appears that he was simply not written into the show. Officials wanted the focus of the show to be on Mick Foley, Kane, and Evolution. Many were speculating that Michaels was pulled from the show as punishment for the comments he made in an interview with WWE.com, but apparently that is not the case.

Wrestling News for June 21, 2003
Last night's edition of Smackdown scored a 4.0 overnight broadcast rating, with a 7 share. The final number should be available later today.

Kurt Angle was said to be feeling fine after his match with Charlie Haas at Tuesday's Smackdown taping. That is definitely a good sign for Angle since he worked very hard during the match and didn't shy away from taking bumps.
During an interview with Z103.FM radio this afternoon, Jim Ross told host Tony Monaco that Brock Lesnar had been injured during a boating accident this week. Ross claimed that he was in San Antonio to have his injured ribs examined and decided to go out with some friends on a boat. He apparently fell out of the boat and his leg hit the propeller, causing a very deep gash behind his knee.
Lesnar was taken to a local hospital for medical attention. The gash, which was three inches long and about an inch deep, required several stitches to close. Today, Lesnar's knee was very swollen and it's unknown whether he will be able to compete at Tuesday's Smackdown taping at Madison Square Garden.

Mick Foley stated in an interview on WWE.com's Byte This that there is a possibility of Terry Funk being brought in for Monday's RAW. No word on what WWE could have planned for him.
News in the World of Wrestling June 19th, 2003
- Beginning July 1, fans will begin voting for their favorite Diva contestants. Fan voting will whittle the competition to a sweet 16 by July 20, then to 8 finalists by July 29. Fan voting on a final Diva four will conclude by August 6. The four remaining contestants will win a trip to WWE's SummerSlam® pay-per-view event in Phoenix to compete in a final event to be web cast live on a special Byte This! program. The new Diva winner will be photographed and featured in WWE RAW® Magazine.
- After RAW ends, Stone Cold and Kane celebrate with beer in the ring. HHH then gets back up and comes face to face with Austin. Austin intimidates HHH, who backs up only to realize Kane is right behind him. Hunter then receives a stunner from Austin.
Kane and Austin then celebrate with more beer, and Kane actually throws a beer into the audience, only to have it thrown right back into the ring.
HHH gets up again and tries drinking some beer to get fan support, but he just gets another stunner, followed by a chokeslam for his efforts. The segment continues with more beer until Lillian Garcia finally thanks the fans for coming and the live show ends.

News for June 18th 2003
Mick Foley and Tommy Dreamer will be the special guests on Thursday's edition of Byte This! over at WWE.com.
This year's Summer Slam is rumored to be taking place in Toronto.
Rumor has it that WWE are attempting to contact Shania Twain to perform the Canadian National Anthem for the 7/8 Smackdown taping at the Air Canada Centre.

News in the World of Wrestling-June 16th, 2003
La Resistance will soon begin a feud with The Dudley Boyz.
Sources are reporting that Marc Mero and Rena Mero (aka Sable) have separated. This happened right around the time Rena made her return to WWE television and they now are living in separate homes. When the agreement was made for her to return, she had agreed that Marc, who was strongly against her returning, would have nothing to do with her career from this point forward.
Jamal, who is one-half of Three Minute Warning with Rosie, has reportedly been released by WWE.
There is once again talk of unmasking Kane. This rumor seems to show up at least a few times per year, so I wouldn't take it too seriously.
Although this isn't confirmed, it's believed by most in WWE that the contract Goldberg signed is a one-year deal worth $1.5 million, with a maximum of six dates per month. With there being four RAWs and one PPV each month, that pretty much explains why Goldberg hasn't been working any house shows as of late.
It now looks as though the "Tough Enough" series will be returning after all. At this point, it's not known whether it will air on Spike TV or MTV. The next season will be taped in or will air in January, and there will reportedly be major changes in the show's format.
