Kurt Angle was on the nationally syndicated Don and Mike show yesterday.
I was driving so I didn't write anything down, though. It was interesting and funny, but I was surprised when he said he probably would only be in the business for about 4 more years.
He started the interview by dropping the Sh** bomb. (They had to use the delay a few times for cursing, which kind of surprised me.) He complained he's used to getting an introduction stating he's a former Olympic gold medalist, former WWE champion, and the best wrestler today.
He talked about the neck surgery and coming back after 2 1/2 months. He mentioned that there have been a lot of neck injuries in recent years. He said his doctor has not really gotten into the sports medicine area until now, so more athletes will start using him. He mentioned that he had a broken neck before the Olympics, but he shot his neck with Novocain so he couldn't feel it. He said he had 2 broken vertebrae and herniated disks.
He said his match beating Austin in Pittsburgh for the title was one of his favorite. Talked about his catch phrase "It's True, It's True". Said he made fun of the home town and then explained they shouldn't be mad because it's true. One of the worst cases was saying he's better than Mario Lemieux in Pittsburgh, because Mario faked Hodgkin's to get sympathy. Also, that he's the most famous person from Pittsburgh besides Mr. Rogers, who doesn't count because he's dead.
Said he's a good guy now because of the surgery and coming back. Said he gets a lot more recognition as a pro wrestler and joked that he should have done that instead of the Olympics.
When asked about how long he'd stay in the business, he said probably only for about 4 more years. Talked about his weekend house show match with him and Brock against Big show and Team Angle.
He took the celebrity sex quiz, and he came out pretty wholesome. Overall he came across very well. Don and Mike had commented how much more grounded the wrestlers are than the other celebrities they have on the show.
