**************
Stephanie walked out onto the stage that had been put together for the event and took the microphone into her hand. She had been working on this night for the past two weeks and had finally gotten the final list of superstars involved in it finished and the final product given to her father. He seemed pleased with the idea, but her brother Shane had been worried that it was going to fail. She remembered the conversation she had with him about it and sighed. She wished her brother would accept that this might actually work. It would make working together in the future that much easier.
~~~~Flashback~~~~
"It's a stupid idea Stephanie, and I wish you and dad would realize that. I mean this is just doomed to fail from the start. Some poor old lady is going to end up with someone like Jeff Hardy and her whole world is going to unravel, which could result in a heart attack or something. I wish you could see that."
"Shane we have it set up so something like that can't happen. Although Jeff is a nice guy aside from the face paint, so I don't see that happening. You're being too dramatic man."
"I'm just giving you something to think about. Dad tried to get me into this and he failed. It's not something I want my name attached too. We don't know these women and they don't know these guys. Something bad can happen from it. I don't think you've really thought all of that out clearly."
"I have gone over this thing really hard over the last two weeks since dad brought the idea to me, and it seems its fool proof. It can't fail, only if we actually believe it will. You don't think someone would pay to see how Stone Cold really acts when he's out on a date? I know I would. I need to know if he's the beer-guzzling guy he is for us. It will give new people an entirely new reason to tune into us each week."
"Well dad told me that if you do this and it doesn't fail, the company is as good as yours when he retires. So for your sake, I hope it works out Stephanie, because I really dont want to have to say I told you so."
"We're going to run the company together Shane, with or without this failing or not. So just have a little faith, you won't be saying I told you so, I can guarantee it."
~~~~~End Of Flashback~~~~~
She looked out as the women started filing into the arena and gathering around the stage, waiting on baited breath for the superstars to come out so they could start bidding. It was now do or die time.
"Well ladies, we've brought you here tonight for a special event to help the local charity of New York, named New Hope out. As you have all heard, we will be auctioning off some of our top superstars, young and old, and for one night, maybe more if you play your cards right, you can take these men out and see what they are really like. So my name is Stephanie McMahon and this is my production, so if you will all take a seat we can get this thing underway."
She walked to the back of the stage and saw all the guys in their tuxedos getting ready to be auctioned off. The only one that seemed to feel uncomfortable with the whole thing was Jeff Hardy. The look on his face showed his discomfort at being dressed up. He was so used to wearing his street clothes and his wrestling attire, which were totally different from the clothing choice for the event here tonight.
"You ready to go out there guys? It's time to sweep these ladies off their feet, and get them to dig as deep as they can into their wallets for this charity."
"We're ready Steph, just make sure they are, because they won't know what hits them tonight." Matt Hardy spoke up with a small smile.
"Then lets get this thing started. Okay, so first person out is going to be an oldie but a goodie, Jerry. Are you ready to be some young things nice catch?"
"A room full of puppies and I get to be their keeper? Who wouldnt be ready for this Stephanie?"
"Then lets get out there already." Stephanie said finally as she made her way back out through the curtain and back up to the microphone.
*************
"Okay ladies, the first superstar we have tonight is for the older women of the audience, but younger ladies, feel free to bid on him too, he won't disappoint you. So straight from our announce table on RAW every Monday night, we have Jerry 'The King' Lawler!"
Stephanie noticed that most of the older women got out of their seats and were ready to start handing out money right then and there. Out of the entire group of about 200 women, none of them seemed to be over the age of 35, which she knew was a good thing for Jerry. He tended to like them a little younger then him anyway. She only hoped that this angle with the older men wasn't the wrong way to go.
"I'll bet $50!" a younger women who looked no more then 30 said loudly, flashing the money in her hand.
"What's your name honey?" Jerry asked with a wink.
"Michelle."
"Well Michelle now has the first bet on the table of $50. Anyone want to get this great catch as their own for more then that?" Stephanie asked with a small smile. It seemed that Jerry was getting more into it, and making it more personal by getting their names, so he could thank them personally for the wager and the time they were taking to help the charity.
"I'll take that sweet man home with me, he's worth at least $100." An older woman Stephanie hadnt seen at first called out.
"Ohhhh, what do you think about that Michelle? She's going to take me home with her for $100." Jerry smiled and winked at the girl known only as Michelle.
"Then I want to place $300 for him. There is no way I'm leaving here without him tonight!" Michelle screamed out, giving Stephanie the money and sitting back down in her chair to go through her purse for more money.
"I'll bet $350!" the older woman announced again.
Michelle was still going through her purse when Jerry jumped down off the stage. He walked up to her and pulled her out of her seat.
"You're not going to let her beat you that way are you?"
"I don't plan on it actually, I'm just getting more money." She smiled sweetly and then held up her debit card.
"What do you think Stephanie, do we take debit here tonight?" Jerry asked with a laugh. Seeing these two women fighting over him was like watching puppies in the ring every night. It gave his ego a nice boost to know he was worth something, even with every passing year.
"We wont be taking debit, but I do know where Michelle is going with this. Yes you can go get more money, just place a wager now." Stephanie said and Michelle put away her card and smiled.
"Then I bet $700 for this man. Now try and beat that old lady."
The older woman looked taken aback at both the amount of money being wagered and the crass comments by this young lady. She looked up at Stephanie and then back to Michelle and Jerry.
"Oh the girl can have him, if he's worth that much to her."
Sitting her back down in her seat Jerry got back on the stage and looked towards Stephanie for the final result.
"Are there any other wagers that want to be laid down before we announce Michelle as the winner and sole keeper of Jerry here?"
When no one answered, Stephanie took the gavel that she'd brought with her and smacked the table to her left.
"Jerry 'The King' Lawler is sold to Michelle for $700. Yes Michelle you can now go get the money, and as an added bonus why don't you take Jerry here with you. So you can get some time alone with him before you're date and before we make you famous on national Television."
