*!Wrestling News For The Week Ending August 11,2003!*
  • "Diamond" Dallas Page will be the special guest on tomorrow's edition of WWE.com's Byte This!

  • Edge has updated his weekly column on WWE.com, which can be reached directly by clicking here.

  • The 8/2 edition of Velocity scored a 0.8 cable rating.

  • The 8/2 edition of Confidential scored a 0.7 cable rating.

  • The 8/3 edition of Sunday Night Heat scored a 1.0 cable rating.
  • Booker T will be seeing a doctor this week to determine the cause of his back injury. He has been working through the injury since his days with WCW and as far as I know, it's a lower back problem, not an upper back/spine injury.

  • Kevin Nash will be seeing a neurologist this week to figure out why he fainted during an autograph signing in Australia. There has been talk that it may be due to a pinched nerve in his back or it could be due to the long trip. There most likely won't be a quick prognosis because several tests will have to be done, but since he was feeling better at RAW, the decision was made to book him on upcoming shows.

  • Christopher Nowinski has been sidelined for several weeks due to post-concussion syndrome. He is still under the observation of his doctors, and will not return to action until he is medically cleared.

  • For those who saw referee Charles Robinson make the X call (the signal to let those in the back know that a legit injury has occurred) at the end of the Bubba Ray Dudley vs. Rene Dupree match, it was because Dupree was busted open the hard way from a shot with the flag pole at the conclusion of the match. He is said to be doing OK now and shouldn't miss any ring time as a result.
  • SummerSlam card rumored as follows.
  • .WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
    Elimination Chamber Match
Triple H (c) vs. Goldberg vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho vs. Kevin Nash

    WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Kurt Angle (c) vs. Brock Lesnar

    WWE UNITED STATES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
    Triple Threat Match
Eddie Guerrero (c) vs. Chris Benoit vs. Rhyno

    STIPULATION TBA
    Shane McMahon vs. Eric Bischoff

    Kane vs. Rob Van Dam

    The Undertaker vs. A-Train

  • Randy Savage will soon be releasing a rap CD. For more information, click here.

  • The two most likely scenarious at this point for the Elimination Chamber match are Triple H retaining the belt or Chris Jericho walking away with the strap.

  • Despite what I reported a few days ago about the Kevin Nash vs. Chris Jericho "Hair vs. Hair" match taking place on Monday's RAW, that has still yet to be confirmed. It will take place as soon as Nash is physically able to work a match.
  • Last night's edition of Smackdown scored a 4.0 metered broadcast rating, with a 7 share. That number is down from what the show normally does, but Smackdown was preempted in the New York market for Giants pre-season football.

  • Ads in the New York market lists the main event of the Smackdown brand house show at MSG on 9/20 as a Fatal Four-Way Match between WWE Champion Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, and The Big Show with Vince McMahon as the special referee.

  • There is talk that the reason Chuck Palumbo was sent to OVW is because of his unpleasantness in his recent contract negotiations, which resulted in his deal being renewed with a very minimal raise.

  • Local ads in the Hershey area, the site of this year's Unforgiven Pay-Per-View, are advertising Triple H vs. Goldberg and Shane McMahon vs. Kane for the event.
  • To follow-up the story I posted a few days ago regarding Crash Holly's release from WWE, he apparently went to Smackdown head writer Dave Lagana and told him that he wasn't happy with the way he was being used on television. Lagana told him to talk to Vince McMahon about it, since he makes the final decisions. On his way to talk to Vince, he got into a very heated argument with Brian Gewirtz. Gewirtz told John Laurinatis that he felt threatened by Crash and the decision was made to release him.

  • As I reported earlier, Vince McMahon has already grown sour with Ultimo Dragon. He feels that Dragon doesn't really fit in with the "WWE style" and hasn't gotten over with the fans like he had hoped. Originally, he was set to receive a decent push by feuding with Rey Mysterio over the Cruiserweight Title.
  • About three minutes of the John Cena vs. The Undertaker match on Thursday's Smackdown was edited out of the show.

  • The 8/7 edition of Smackdown scored a 3.0 broadcast rating.

  • On a rather humorous note, Al Wilson (Torrie Wilson's father) was of course in attendance at his daughter's wedding to Billy Kidman. No one fainted when they saw a "dead man" giving his daughter to be married.

  • During a recent house show in Edmonton, Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle exchanged words following their match. After Angle defeated Lesnar, Brock asked him for a rematch at Summer Slam. When Angle agreed, Brock gave him an unexpected F-5 and Angle said that Chris Benoit would get the title shot instead.
