*!Wrestling News for Week Ending July 29th, 2003!*
This is all the news thats been floating my way over the past week, some of it by now will be a little old, some of it may be good, and then some of it might just be plain stupid, and you dont have to read it, but heres the recap and rumors for this week!

~Lili~
  • Vince McMahon was busted open the "hardway" by a chairshot he took from Zach Gowen during last night's PPV. He lost a lot of blood and had to be stitched up following the match. Those who saw the cut said it looked pretty bad.

  • For those wondering why Ultimo Dragon's push has come to a sudden halt, the word going around is that company officials feel his work is too light and doesn't look realistic enough to justify placing him in a top spot.

  • As I reported a few days ago, Paul Heyman is scheduled to make his return to WWE television in time for Summer Slam. With the idea being thrown around of turning Brock Lesnar heel, some are already speculating that Brock will once again be aligned with Heyman.
  • Wrestlers on the Smackdown roster were said to be furious over the payouts they received for working the European tour in May. The average check for the tour was about $3,000, and some received as low as $1,500. Although it was only a one week tour, when you factor in road expenses (doesn't include hotel and airline fees, which the company pays for) and the long trip from home, the talent were expecting much better.

  • WWE has cancelled their scheduled house show on 8/9 in Little Rock, Arkansas due to poor ticket sales.

  • Tough Enough 3 winners Matt Cappotelli and John Hennigan have been added to the APA's Barroom Brawl.
  • It looks as though Ultimo Dragon will be competing on Velocity before tomorrow night's Vengeance PPV. No word on who he will be facing.

  • Jim Ross claimed in a recent interview that Steve Austin will most likely wrestle one final match before he retires for good. Many are speculating that this match will most likely take place at WrestleMania XX.

  • Even with the recent passing of The Undertaker's father, he will still be competing as advertised at Vengeance tomorrow night.

  • The reason for Kevin Nash's quick job to Test on RAW a few weeks back is because Booker T's match ran too long.
  • Vince McMahon has already soured on Ultimo Dragon, which is evident by his lack of push for the past few weeks. The original plan was to hold the first of a long series of Ultimo Dragon vs. Rey Mysterio matches at Summer Slam, but the plan was changed with Billy Kidman in Dragon's spot.

  • In Charleston, WV, a maintenance worker barged into a board meeting last Thursday, drenched his supervisor with gasoline, and attempted to light him on fire. Luckily, no one from the mainstream media has linked the story to WWE's recent storyline with Kane.

  • Paul Heyman may return at Summer Slam as an on-air character.

  • Lita claimed in a recent interview on WWE.com's Byte This that she is medically cleared to return to the ring and will do so as when the company calls her.
  • Some have already given up on the idea of Shane Douglas being a top player in the promotion. He is already gaining a reputation for forgetting spots and blaming his mistakes on others. After a recent show, Douglas spent several minutes lecturing referee Rudy Charles for blowing a spot before someone finally stepped in and forced Douglas to admit that he was the one at fault.

  • Don Callis has been telling friends that he would rather write, produce, or work in the backstage area rather than work on camera as a manager.

  • The word coming out of DirecTV is that the promotion is averaging about 2,500 buys per week. That number is considerably lower than the figure promised to them by InDemand.

  • Jeff Hardy told wrestlers at the Ring of Honor show that he has no plans to work for NWA-TNA. He claimed that he is focusing on his music career at the moment and only worked the ROH show as a favor to his friend Joey Matthews.

  • TNA officials have implemented a new rule that requires all talent to be in the building by 2 p.m. on Wednesdays. Those who arrive late have been threatened with a $50 fine
  • Please take this as only a weak rumor at this point, but WWE officials are strongly considering turning Brock Lesnar heel. The feeling among most is that Lesnar is more suited to be a heel, and with Kurt Angle doing such a good job in his new babyface role, it makes sense to turn Lesnar into Smackdown's top heel to feud with Angle.
  • There is also talk of turning Triple H into a babyface down the line in order to feud with Randy Orton.

  • Rosie is set to be repackaged as the sidekick of The Hurricane. In a move straight out of Vince Russo's playbook, Rosie will be referred to as "Super Hero In Training," or "SHIT" for short.

  • The WWE writing staff is still unsure as to whether a fourth member will be added to the Evolution stable. It was originally thought that Mark Jindrak would be the fourth member, but officials soured on him due to his poor performances at house show events.

  • There is some heat on Rikishi for not informing management that he would be undergoing Laysik eye surgery. Rikishi simply told the office that he would need two weeks off for personal reasons, which he was granted, and he was booked for house shows after his vacation had ended. However, the surgery took longer to heal than expected, and he needed to take more time off. Had the company known that he was having the surgery and it was possible that he'd need more time to recover, he wouldn't have been advertised for any house shows.
  • The general consensus among those on the RAW roster is that while Triple H continues to have an ego backstage, he now mainly focuses on his own programs rather than interfering in everyone else's.

  • Monday's RAW rating of 4.2 was considered to be a success for the company. However, that success was not attributed to Kane's match with Rob Van Dam like some would have hoped. According to the quarter-hour breakdown, Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho drew the highest rating, while the Kane/RVD match actually lost over 350,000 viewers.
  • Former pro wrestler Maxx Payne, whose real name is Darryl Peterson, has filed a lawsuit against the creators of the "Max Payne" video game for $10 million. Peterson claims they stole his persona.

  • A local television ad for the Smackdown taping on 8/30 in Boston lists Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker vs. The Big Show for the WWE Title as the show's main event.

  • SLAM! Wrestling is reporting that both The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar are being considered as possible opponents for Kane at Summer Slam. No word on how they plan to do this, since both Lesnar and 'Taker are a part of the Smackdown crew. It was originally thought that Rob Van Dam would be given the spot, but those plans have apparently been scrapped
  • The F.B.I. have been sent down to OVW for a few weeks, which explains why they've been jobbing to the likes of Funaki and Spanky on Velocity over the past few weeks. The reason for this is because they are set to be involved in a program with the APA, but with Bradshaw still unable to compete due to hernia surgery, there was nothing else for them to do.

  • Brian Gewirtz, who is the head writer for the RAW brand, has been pushing for the Lance Storm "boring" segments to continue. The idea is to have Storm become aligned with an over-the-top tag team partner as an "Odd Couple" of sorts, where they would film vignettes of Storm's partner trying to teach him how to be more charismatic.

  • Triple H filmed a Stacker 2 commercial last week in Los Angeles.

  • The original plan for this past Monday's RAW was to have Triple H defend the World Heavyweight Title against Scott Steiner, but those plans were changed due to HHH's leg injury.

  • John Cena will soon be recording his first rap CD, which is tentatively titled "Basic Thuganomics".
